This is my sweet spot on creative projects. My ideal experience is an overlapping of money earned, engagement with the community, and publicity from outside entities.
This isn't anything technical, it is simply a translation of when I gain the most joy from a creative project. I encourage every creative to identify their own ROI for themselves so that it's clear when they have accomplished personal success on a project.
If you rely only on your client to tell you if something has been successful or not, it will be a roller coaster, so developing your own personal goals to meet along with the clients more data driven goals is a great way to prevent burn out and practice awareness of when something works for you.
